On 3 September 2013 will take place in Brussels the third SAPIENT Policy Meeting, titled ‘Smart Borders? European and Global Logics of Border Surveillance in the Context of Privacy‘. The meeting is organised by the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in cooperation with King’s College London and the University of Kent (Brussels School of International Studies) in the framework of the SAPIENT (Supporting Fundamental rights, PrIvacy and Ethics in Surveillance Technologies) project. ImageProf. Paul De Hert and LSTS researchers Antonella Galetta and Rocco Bellanova will present their works on the different processes of europeanization of EU external borders at the “L’européanisation à la croisée des disciplines et de nouveaux enjeux” Conference in Brussels, at the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis, on Tuesday 25 September 2012. ImageThe European Green Party organizes a conference at the European Parliament on Tuesday the 26th of June at the European Parliament on the European Border Surveillance System (EUROSUR), „Smart Borders“ and EU-PNR.  As core contribution to the conference, Ben Hayes from Statewatch and LSTS researcher Mathias Vermeulen will present the findings of their study „Borderline – The EU’s Border Surveillance Initatives“.
