Novática, the journal of Spain’s Asociación de Técnicos de Informática (ATI), has recently published two papers by LSTS researchers. Issue 218 includes a contribution titled “El secreto se impone a la ubicación: Estableciendo la gravedad de las injerencias en la privacidad que plantean las tecnologías de vigilancia“, by Mathias Vermeulen, while issue 217 contains the article “La protección de datos en Europa y la persistente huella de la privacidad“, by Gloria González Fuster and Rocco Bellanova (both in Spanish).

The 2013 Multidisciplinary Privacy Research Award, to be presented at the annual Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) Conference held in Brussels at the end of January, will be given to the authors of the best paper that describes new ideas in privacy and data protection in a multidisciplinary setting. Eligible papers should address both societal and technical aspects of a problem and outline novel approaches to privacy and data protection. Submissions are due before 18 November 2012. The Belgian Copyright Association is organizing a Study day on “Recent decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union in copyright matters” to take place on 16 November 2012 at Fondation Universitaire/Universitaire Stichting in Brussels.
